I had always wanted to make food for a living. I for sure wanted to own a restaurant. Nothing crazy or huge.Just a small place with a small and unique menu.Something that would be a nice dining experience for people.
My cousin and I both went to culinary school, and we decided that we’d go into business together. Our other uncle is a retired accountant, so he would run the business side of things. We literally started from scratch on our little place.
The place we ended up getting was just right. Its capacity was about 25 people at a time. The kitchen was relatively small, so we needed to be careful with how much we stored in it. We wouldn’t be able to get huge appliances or store too much at once, which would be fine since we were planning a smaller menu with fresh foods.
We knew that at the very top of our list would be both of our food processors. We used them a lot, so we figured we’d have to replace many of the blades. We asked around to find out where we could get these things, and one of our culinary school friends mentioned Kitchen Works USA, where we could purchase Cuisinart 14 cup food processor parts.
We ordered everything we needed, plus extra backup parts just in case. We really had no idea what to expect in terms of turnout with customers, so we figured it would be better to be safe than sorry.
It was a really great idea because they didn’t take up a ton of space like a commercial sized one would and we really didn’t need one with that much capacity. We would use them for so many things as well that I knew they would get a ton of use.
We planned on using it to prep a lot of veggies, make purées for sauces, make pate, and even purée fruits for different cocktails and desserts. It was definitely going to be something more exclusive and unique.
After a lot of hard work and planning, we finally had our grand opening. We had a great turnout. It was more like an open house with samples of foods, and people were loving it. Our reservations were booked solid for our first weekend in business.
The food came out phenomenally and the craft cocktails were a big hit as well. Our business has been booming ever since. The food processors are really the stars of the show, because they save us so much time on things that we’d otherwise be spending hours on.
I finally made my dream of owning a small restaurant come true, and it turned out better than I could even imagine. It’s been a wonderful experience and I’m so grateful that I have all the tools I need to be successful.
